Determining VMware Software Version and Build Number

In the ESXi/ESX 4.x and ESXi 5.x Service Console

Determine the build number and the latest update applied by running the command:

vmware -vl

Output will be

VMware ESXi 5.1.0 build-1065491

VMware ESXi 5.1.0 Update 1
